Membership Involvement

As a chamber member, you may choose to be involved in a variety of activities, task forces, committees, events, networking groups and commissions. Each involvement opportunity presents its own unique purpose, and we welcome you to explore the various opportunities that interest you. Purpose
The Goal of the Business Councils:

  1. Maintain an active local business council that will meet every other month for discussion, planning and implementation of programs
  2. Host a State of the City every other year
  3. Continue to recruite new members to the Business Council.
  4. Host at least one event in the chamber area every month; These events are to be determined by the interest to the membership.
  5. Conduct joint business council events that are regional in nature
  6. Meet with City Officials on a monthly basis to get updates
  7. Encourage Business Council members to serve on City commissions and run for office.
  8. Help identify target companies to survey for retention program (Grow Minnesota!)
  9. Host candidate debates for legislative races
  10. Host legislative wrap-ups
  11. Assist in developing topics for events
  12. The Business Council Chairs will meet to assess the needs of the four main Chamber area business communities, plan meeting schedules and program schedules.

Government Affairs Committee

Meeting Details:

2nd Friday of every month
7:30am DCR Chamber of Commerce Office

Purpose
The Government Affairs committee serves the interests of the regional business community by:

  1. Facilitating member communication with state and local officials through regular conference calls and breakfast programs
  2. Becoming involved in addressing local business issues at a policy level
  3. Establishing position statements on key local, regional, and state issues

Ambassadors

Meeting Details:
Ambassadors are called on as needed for events such as ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and other special occasions.

Purpose
Ambassadors serve the interests of the business community by strengthening member involvement through:

  1. Public Relations efforts at chamber events
  2. Active promotion of the Chamber throughout the region
  3. Volunteer-driven membership growth initiatives

ChamberNet Groups

Meeting Details:
2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month

Purpose
ChamberNet groups operate as lead/referral networking groups that utilize a non-competing core of business people to build relationships and generate additional business leads for one another. Currently we have one group that meets on a monthly basis. The Business-to-Business (B2B) - for business people who primarily sell to other businesses. These groups are open to visitors on a non-compete basis.

We also have a waiting list for members who are unable to attend the scheduled meeting time or for members in industries that are already represented on the current group. Contact Robb to be placed on this list.

 

Golf Committee

DCR Chamber of Commerce offices

Purpose
The Golf Committee serves as the primary volunteer group that plans the Annual DCR Chambers of Commerce Golf Classic. This group of volunteers actively promotes the Golf Classic to chamber members and collects door/raffle prizes for the event while fulfilling the many tasks associated with planning a large event such as the Golf Classic.

 

South Metro Young Professionals

Meeting Details:
1st Thursday of every month
7:30am - 8:30am
DCR Chamber Office, 1121 Town Centre Drive, Suite 102, Eagan

Additionally there will be monthly events around professional development, social, or community service. Those events will be announced as they are planned.

Purpose:
The South Metro Young Professionals Group (SMYPG) is for dedicated, enthusiastic, and talented Young Professionals in their 20s, 30s, and 40s and/or those that are "young" in experience within their current industry. The mission of the South Metro Young Professionals Group is personal and professional development as well as a way to interact socially, exchange ideas, share common interests, learn about the area's business environment, and engage in the community's future. SMYPG currently consists of the Dakota County Regional Chamber members but hope to grow and include members from throughout the South Metro Area.
