DCR Strategic Initiative Area Business Councils

Purpose

Area Business Councils are volunteer organizations, comprised of Chamber members located in a specific geographical area of DCR, providing a channel for members to be involved in networking, discussing issues and implementing special projects and events for the benefit of the area being served.

Each council serves the unique needs of its area members, with its own strategic plan, programs and initiatives. Though the Area Business Councils are separate organizations, they also may work together on collaborative initiatives and programs through DCR, such as an Annual Celebration, a look back at the program year to recognize Area Business Council's contributions and successful initiatives.

Benefits

Participating can maximize the existing benefits derived from Chamber membership. It provides members the opportunity to prioritize and bring a focus to the business needs of the area and to take community leadership roles in addressing those needs. It can increase membership and business network within the geographical area, and provide stronger presentation on specific issues. Also, since area business councils exist in smaller geographical areas, participation provides opportunity for area-specific networking with others doing business in the same part of the area.

DCR Liaison

DCR staff assist the councils with the development of strategic initiatives, plans of actions, events and programs, and coordinating council meetings. The councils can draw on DCR resources for the production of needed printed materials and the development of press releases. The councils are fiscally responsible to DCR.

Meeting

Area Business Councils shall meet monthly and as needed. The time and location will coordinated with DCR staff.
